Police say a Potomac physical education teacher slipped an iPad under a bathroom door to film a foreign exchange student in the shower.
Police charged Darrien Lamont Tucker, 39, of the 10800 block of Deborah Drive in Potomac, with five counts of conducting visual surveillance of another person in a private place without that person’s consent and with prurient intent.
Police said the exchange student, living with Tucker’s family, said she noticed the iPad being slid under the bathroom door as she prepared to shower on May 27 and May 28. Police said the victim then brought her phone into the bathroom to record the iPad going under the door the next two days.
Police said that on May 31, the exchange student put a video camera in the hallway outside the bathroom door that captured Tucker putting the iPad under the door as she showered.
Tucker admitted to it in an interview with police, according to a police press release on Wednesday. On June 3, police arrested Tucker. He is out on bond.
Tucker has taught Physical Education at the McLean School in Potomac since 2002 and has been an assistant varsity football coach at Walt Whitman High School for the last three years. According to his now removed McLean School bio, Tucker still plays semi-professional football as a co-captain for the Maryland Outlaws, though he is not listed on the roster for the 2013 or 2014 teams.
Police said there is no indication that Tucker “engaged in this type of behavior outside of the home.”
