More Campaign Signs Stolen Along Bradley Boulevard

Campaign signs at Silver Spring Civic CenterBradley Boulevard residents recently found more campaign yard signs stolen or ripped up, the second series of such incidents we’ve heard about in the past few months.

Edie Herman, who lives on the corner of Bradley Boulevard and Burling Court, told us campaign signs in her yard for District 16 State Senate candidate Susan Lee and District 1 Councilmember Roger Berliner were stolen Thursday night. After Lee’s campaign replaced her sign on Friday, the replacement sign was stolen on Saturday night.

The campaign yard sign stealing on Bradley Boulevard doesn’t appear limited to any particular candidates. Herman said a sign for Hugh Hill, one of Lee’s opponents in the June 24 Democratic primary, was missing on Sunday morning near her home.

In April, District 16 House of Delegates candidate Hrant Jamgochian reported signs for his campaign placed in front of his house were stolen. The replacements were found ripped up, with the mangled wire frames remaining. Jamgochian also lives along Bradley Boulevard, not far from Herman.

The tearing up or theft of campaign yard signs is by no means a new phenomenon. Campaign yard signs are easy to spot in the politically active neighborhoods of Bethesda, though not late last week.

“On Friday, after the first thefts, Bradley Blvd. appeared bereft of signs for several blocks,” Herman wrote in an email.

After the April incident at Jamgochian’s house, the candidate contacted police. No word on if that resulted in any leads.
