Chef/Owner Of Assaggi Sold It Off – Assaggi Mozarella Bar has sat dark for weeks on Bethesda Row and the co-owner of the location in McLean said it’s because owner/chef Domenico Cornacchia sold it to an unknown chef from Massachusetts. It’s also unknown why Cornacchia shut down the restaurant before the new owner came in. [Bethesda Magazine]

Task Force Recommends Putting First Day Of School Post-Labor Day – A state-organized task force voted to recommend pushing the first day of school after Labor Day, something Comptroller Peter Franchot and the Maryland tourist industry have been pushing for in recent years. Education officials aren’t too keen on the idea. The task force’s report could be the impetus for legislation in next year’s legislative session, when it would likely face a challenge from local school leaders. [Washington Post]

Poll Shows Preference for “White Flint” – A poll put out by the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center sought answers to what the county should call the redeveloping area of White Flint/North Bethesda. Out of 239 responses in two weeks, almost 50 percent chose White Flint and 37 percent chose North Bethesda. The next highest vote-getter — Bethesda North — got only 14 votes for 6 percent of the vote. [Survey Monkey via Ken Hartman]

Chevy Chase Castle House Off The Market – This three-bedroom Chevy Chase home modeled after a castle gatehouse was recently sold for $1.3 million, down from a listing price of $1.5 million. The house is at 3207 Woodbine St. [Curbed DC]
