Council Expected To Finalize Budgets – The County Council is expected to reach agreement on the county’s FY15 operating budget and six-year capital budget on Thursday. The Council must make final decisions on a reduction of the county’s energy tax and a host of items added to the budget through Council committees. The hearing, expected to start at 11 a.m., will be televised live at County Cable Montgomery. [Montgomery County Council]

Flash Flood Watch In Effect Into Friday – The National Weather Service is predicting 2-4 inches of rain around the region, which could lead to localized flash flooding Thursday night and Friday. [National Weather Service]

WSSC Shows Off New Tunnel For Massive Water Pipe – WSSC on Wednesday gave media tours of its Bi-County Water Tunnel, a section of tunnel that runs from I-270 and Tuckerman Lane to Kensington at depths of 90 to 200 feet below the surface. A water transmission line seven feet in diameter is being installed and sealed in the tunnel to transport 100 million gallons of water each day when it’s put into operation next year. Landscaping and Photography Competition – The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is accepting applications for its annual Keep Montgomery County Beautiful landscaping and photography competitions. The landscaping prize is available to groups, businesses or public institutions doing landscaping projects in “commonly owned sections of commercial or residential properties.” The photography prize is open to all.
