Early Voting Starts In One Month – We’re officially a month away from the June 2014 primary, thanks to early voting that starts on June 12 runs until June 19.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections has expanded its list of early voting locations to include a site in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase area. From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the early voting period, voters can go to the Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center (4301 Willow Lane) and cast primary ballots before the June 24 election day.
Any registered voter can vote at any one of the county’s nine early voting sites.
D-16 Debate Set For Sunday – In case you missed last week’s District 16 delegate debate at Whitman High School (or if you just really like local politics) the Democratic candidates fighting for three seats will debate again Sunday.
The Edgemoor Citizens Association is hosting the D-16 debate at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center (4805 Edgemoor Lane). Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney will moderate and seven of the eight candidates (Jordan Cooper, Bill Frick, Hrant Jamgochian, Arian Kelly, Marc Korman, Karen Kuker-Kihl and Gareth Murray) are confirmed for the event.
Former D-18 Delegate Throws Support Behind Kessler – In next-door District 18, former delegate and House Majority Leader John Hurson endorsed challenger candidate Rick Kessler.
According to Kessler’s campaign, Hurson and his wife will host an event later this week to introduce Kessler to their longtime supporters. Hurson served as a D-18 delegate from 1991 to 2005. Kessler is taking on all three district incumbents, plus three other challengers.
“I think Rick Kessler will be a forceful voice for District 18 and Montgomery County in the House of Delegates and he will start by securing adequate state funding for school construction in Montgomery and being a leader for the environment, for women’s reproductive health and for protecting working families,” Hurson said in a prepared statement.
