Chevy Chase Man Sentenced To 10 Years For Country Club Thefts – Samuel Joseph Goldenberg, 25, of Chevy Chase was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $23,000 in restitution last week for a string of country club thefts in which he stole car keys, purses, watches and jewelry. Police tracked Goldenberg down through surveillance video and pawn shop records. [NBC Washington]

Wizards’ Gooden Makes Bethesda Home – Drew Gooden was a late-season pick-up for the Washington Wizards, but the forward was already spending a lot of time in North Bethesda and Bethesda with his girlfriend. He has an apartment near the White Flint Metro station and frequents the Whole Foods at North Bethesda Market. Other favorites include the Bethesda Crab House, Raku and Woodmont Grill, where the 12-year NBA veteran said he was recently treated to a meal on the house. Davis Library Community Day and Book Sale – The annual Friends of the Davis Library Community Day and Book Sale is set for Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library (6400 Democracy Blvd.). There will be a magician, balloon artist clowns, tattoo artists and more, as well as the Friends’ bi-annual book sale. [Friends of the Library]

Big Train Release Roster – Also on May 31, the Bethesda Big Train summer collegiate baseball team starts its 2014 season. The team released its roster last week and it includes nine players from last summer’s team. The first game will be an exhibition against the Gaithersburg Giants at 7:30 p.m. at Shirley Povich Field (10600 Westlake Dr.). Admission is free. [Bethesda Big Train]
