The 250-seat music venue operated by Strathmore at Pike & Rose will begin hosting event rentals this fall, open for concerts in early 2015 and be called “AMP,” according to a press release.
Strathmore officials made the announcement of the name, logo, website and catering partner Neighborhood Restaurant Group at the theater’s annual gala on Saturday.
That website is live. The news that the space will feature the Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s 550 Events & Provisions division as its exclusive food and catering vendor comes after developer Federal Realty announced NRG would open a beer garden concept in the new neighborhood.
Federal Realty and Strathmore announced plans for the music venue last year. It will serve as a space for concerts and corporate events, weddings and other gatherings. Strathmore’s existing facility — the Music Center at Strathmore on Tuckerman Lane — holds nearly 2,000 seats and is one of two homes of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
“AMP will allow Strathmore to move into the next chapter of its growth by reaching out to a whole new audience with intimate artistic offerings in a more casual and accessible setting,” Strathmore CEO and founder Eliot Pfanstiehl said in a press release.
Rockville-based Federal Realty hopes AMP, along with a luxury movie theater and upscale bowling alley, make it the entertainment hub of a growing White Flint.
The Pike & Rose project will be the first of the major redevelopment projects under the 2010 White Flint Sector Plan to be completed. In total, the development will have 450,000 square feet of retail, 1.1 million square feet of office space and 1,500 residential units on the 24 acres of what used to be Mid-Pike Plaza along Rockville Pike.
AMP will be 2,800 square feet with floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies, plus a green room and 1,100-square-foot pre-function space.
The music venue will be next to the eight-screen iPic Theatres in the development’s still under construction building at 11800 Grand Park Ave.
