Noodles & Company Coming To Former Ri Ra Space — Another national chain is coming to the Shoppes of Bethesda. A Noodles & Company at will take over about half of the former Ri Ra Pub space at 4931 Elm St. Noodles plans an October opening. The Shoppes, just south of Bethesda Row, has seen a number of locally owned tenants leave in the last year. Ri Ra set up shop in Georgetown. [Bethesda Magazine]
MoCo Students Still Failing Math Finals In Large Numbers — Results for January math final exams in MCPS high schools didn’t improve compared to last year, when the problem of the large amount of students who fail the exams came to light. Failure rates were as high as 60 percent in some courses. Some have blamed a grading policy that allows students to pass the course without passing the exam. A work group created by Superintendent Joshua Starr last May will present its recommendations in June. [Washington Post]
PerSei Sets Up Leasing Trailer — Federal Realty’s PerSei apartments has set up shop with a leasing trailer at the old Mid-Pike Plaza, site of the developer’s Pike & Rose project. The 174 one-bedroom and two-bedroom units are among the first residential units to result from the 2010 White Flint Sector Plan. The building will be ready for move-in in May. [PerSei]
Cabin John Up For Macy’s Fundraising Program — If you shop at the Macy’s in Westfield Montgomery (7125 Democracy Blvd.) you can donate $1 or more at the register that the department store will set aside for its “Heart Your Park” program. Donations made through the Westfield Montgomery store will go toward upkeep for nearby Cabin John Regional Park (7400 Tuckerman Lane) and Macy’s will match the donations up to $250,000 total for all 550 parks participating nationally.
