Korean Chicken Restaurant Coming To Bethesda

The original California Tortilla location on Cordell Avenue (file photo)A Korean fried chicken restaurant with roots in New York is coming to the former space of California Tortilla in Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle.

Turntable, the retro-themed, late-night favorite in New York City’s Koreatown, has begun work inside the space at 4862 Cordell Ave.

The space was home to the flagship location of California Tortilla, until it moved across the street in October 2012 for more room.

According to Montgomery County records, a commercial permit for interior alterations was issued in December for the nearly 2,000-square-foot restaurant. Work started this week. A dumpster is now stationed in front of the restaurant.

Turntable NYC has earned positive reviews for its Hot & Spicy, Soy Garlic and Half & Half wing flavors that come in orders of six, 12 or 20, with drums, boneless or combo options available. It also offers kimchi, fried rice, bulgogi burgers and a special beer tower for late-night diners.

No word on a potential opening date or how much the restaurant will resemble the New York City version.

Turntable is the latest in the continued resurgence of Cordell Avenue.
