Street Unplowed? Tell Montgomery County

Snowy neighborhood street Friday in East Bethesda

Those who think their county-maintained street may have been missed by snow plow crews can email Highway Services at highway[at]montgomerycountymd[dot]gov.

Montgomery County put out the announcement on Saturday morning.

Snow plow crews on neighborhood streets may not scrape snow and ice down to bare pavement, but the county is double-checking to make sure all streets are made passable this weekend.

The county Department of Transportation is using a record 650 pieces of equipment to move snow from urban districts, widen cleared paths at intersections and clear all neighborhoods.

In downtown Bethesda, the county sent in front-end loaders and trucks Friday around midnight to haul out large snow piles, according to Bethesda Urban Partnership Executive Director Dave Dabney.

Dabney said the piles from road plow operations were unavoidable and hauling is the best option in the central business district. He expects the hauling operation to take a couple days.

All community use activities in MCPS elementary and middle schools are cancelled Saturday. Community use activities in high schools are continuing as scheduled. Visit the county’s Community Use of Public Facilities site for Sunday updates.
