New Office “Best Building Ever Built In Bethesda” — Carr Properties’ 4500 East West Highway office building will be Bethesda’s first new office space in more than a decade. On Friday, the construction of the building topped out. The developers claimed it is “the best building every built in the city of Bethesda.” They also anticipate the building’s main tenants will be a mix of law firms, financial groups and other professional services firms. Post Editorial: Teacher’s Union Payoffs Need To Stop — The Washington Post’s editorial board on Saturday came out with a scathing editorial on the Montgomery County Education Association, the teacher’s union that plays a big role in local campaigns with its political endorsements. The Post says candidates are expected to contribute to the MCEA, not the other way around, to the tune of $6,000 each, a “perverse setup,” in which officials become “beholden to the union and incapable of balancing their support for teachers against potentially competing interests.” The MCEA wouldn’t say whether the group is asking for the contributions in this year’s election.
