Eminent Domain In Play For Apex Building — Robert Kronenberg, acting chief of the Planning Department’s work in the Bethesda area, told The Gazette that eminent domain for the Apex Building was “very possible” if negotiations with the building’s owner don’t work out. The state and county want the owner to raze the building (or sell to a developer who will raze the building) so the state can build its optimal Bethesda Purple Line station below. Planning Board Commissioner Casey Anderson suggested the eminent domain approach in September. The pharmacists group that owns the building said last week a deal is still possible, though the station design hampers redevelopment interest. [The Gazette]

Gallery B Announces February Exhibit — Gallery B’s February exhibit will feature a juried show of Maryland Federation of Art members. The exhibit will be open from Feb. 5 to March 1, Wednesday to Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. The opening reception is set for Friday, Feb. 14 from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Bethesda Art Walk. Trash, Recycling Pick Up On For Wednesday — Montgomery County will pick up trash and recycling on Wednesday, but remember the week’s pick-up schedule has moved one day back because of Monday’s MLK Day holiday.
