Its owners have been tight-lipped and no one else knows for sure when White Flint Mall will finally meet the wrecking ball.

A lawsuit last summer from anchor tenant Lord & Taylor appeared to hold up the process. In December, a judge ruled that White Flint Mall can proceed with its redevelopment plans, though the task of getting key approvals from the Montgomery County Planning Board remains.

It has led to these unique shots of an operating, yet mostly empty shopping mall.

Local photographer Chip Py recently took a trip around White Flint, which opened in 1977 and is getting closer and closer to the end.
