Police: Armed Suspect Robs Elderly Woman On Christmas Eve

Armed robbery suspect uses stolen check to purchase food, via Montgomery County PolicePolice on Monday released video of a pair of suspects they say were involved in a Christmas Eve armed robbery of elderly woman in a Westfield Montgomery Mall parking garage.

Police said that at about 2:05 p.m. on Dec. 24, a 71-year-old woman left the mall and walked toward her car in the parking garage next to the Sears store. Police said the male suspect, described as dark-skinned with a thin build and dark-colored coat, was walking close to the victim before taking out a handgun and grabbing her purse.

Within two hours of the robbery, police said the victim’s credit cards and checkbook were used in stores in Lanham and College Park.

One video shows the male suspect and a female suspect using one of the stolen checks to buy groceries at a Giant Food store. A shorter clip shows the suspects as they leave the store.
