Berliner Town Hall — County Councilmember Roger Berliner will hold a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Town of Chevy Chase Town Hall (4301 Willow Lane). Berliner represents Bethesda and Chevy Chase, as well as Potomac, Poolesville and Kensington. Bethesda Baby ‘SLOP’ — A Bethesda woman started an organic baby food business that whips up purees of kale, lentils, curry, beets, rutabaga and other local produce for babies. Adria Kinnier started the business in September out of a Bethesda commercial kitchen after her own child-raising experience. [The Gazette]
Barwood’s Blue Taxis — Barwood Taxis blue vehicles are inspired by owner Lee Barnes’ mother, who had a 1960 Ford Thunderbird in the same color. Barnes operates the taxi company that serves Montgomery County out of North Bethesda on Nicholson Court. The company moved to that location from Bethesda in 1982 looking for more industrial land. MCFRS Needs Old Vehicles To Train — The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service is in dire need of vehicles to train new staff. MCFRS uses the donated vehicles to teach first responders how to use equipment such as the “jaws of life,” which helps open up overturned or badly damaged vehicles after a wreck. Vehicle donations are tax deductible up to the Kelley Blue Book Price. You must have a clear title available and MCFRS will provide towing for free to locations in Montgomery County.
