County Nabs Mover For Holding Goods Hostage — The Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection issued six civil citations to Adam Shaikh, owner of Big Brothers Moving in Gaithersburg, for violating consumer law. According to the county and a District Court judge who ordered the citations, Shaikh and his company held goods hostage, didn’t say whether moving estimates were binding, charged extra for services after estimates and misrepresented that the company was licensed and insured. Council To Hold Three Worksessions On Zoning Rewrite — The County Council will hold worksessions on Jan. 14, 15 and 16 to clear up issues in the zoning ordinance rewrite. The Council’s Planning Committee had 13 worksessions on the rewrite in 2013, but the Council has decided to delay the passing of it by six months for another set of reviews.
