Police To Watch For Drunk Driving With Operation Turkey Chase

Police make a traffic stop in Bethesda (file photo)The night before Thanksgiving is known as one of the biggest bar nights of the year.

Montgomery County Police know that too.

Police will be out in force tonight for Operation Turkey Chase, a special drunk driving and underage drinking enforcement program.

The operation includes sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols in busy areas, laser stop teams, plainclothes operations and phantom checkpoints — sobriety checkpoint signs that don’t include actual checkpoints, but are meant to deter drunk driving.

County Police, the County Sheriff’s Department, Park Police, State Police, Gaithersburg Police and Rockville Police will all take part. The task force will continue through the holiday season, until Jan. 4, according to a media advisory.
