Vets, Officials Celebrate Veterans Day In Woodmont Triangle

Area veterans and a number of local officials gathered Monday in Veterans Park to remember the contributions and sacrifices of veterans.

Rep. Chris Van Hollen, County Executive and Vietnam War vet Isiah Leggett and Councilmember Roger Berliner spoke about the importance of providing government services for veterans.

Rear Admiral Raquel Bono, director of the Navy’s Washington area medical programs, was the guest speaker.

Veterans put the flag in Veterans Park at half-staff and placed floral tributes around the fountain and permanent memorial.
