Cops Pull Over 200 As Part Of Labor Day Traffic Enforcement

Police make a traffic stop in Bethesda (file photo)Montgomery County Police pulled over nearly 200 drivers on the Beltway to start the Labor Day weekend, part of a statewide initiative focused on the highway and I-95.

Five officers from the department’s Alcohol Initiatives Section and Maryland State Troopers stopped 198 vehicles over the ten-hour enforcement period on the night of Friday, Aug. 30.

According to Police, the stops resulted in 168 traffic citations and 39 warnings.

Cops also issued 52 equipment repair orders, arrested or issued criminal drug citations for 18 drivers and served two warrants. The enforcement, dubbed “Operation Millipede” resulted in one alcohol violation.
