Developers Want County To Knock Down Building Permit Fees — Montgomery County’s fees for building permits are higher — in some cases double or more — than in surrounding jurisdictions. The head of the Department of Permitting Services said that’s because her Department runs solely on the fees and is not tax-supported. MCFRS Searching For Missing Swimmer In The Potomac — MCFRS resumed its search this morning for a 24-year-old man who was swimming in the Potomac River on Monday night before starting to struggle and going under, according to friends. [MCFRS]

First of 3 Purple Line Station Open Houses Tonight — Montgomery County planners are working on a plan to offer the owners of the Apex Building (7272 Wisconsin Ave.) more density to ensure they raze the building so the state can more easily build the Bethesda Purple Line station below it. The first of three public open houses on the plan is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center (4805 Edgemoor Lane). [Montgomery County Planning Department]
