Brown Picks Up First Labor Endorsement In Governor’s Race — Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown (D) will pick up an endorsement from the Laborer’s International Union of North America Mid-Atlantic Region today in Baltimore. The group includes workers in building construction, highway construction and environmental remediation. Brown is going up against Attorney General Doug Gansler and Delegate Heather Mizeur for next June’s Democratic nomination. [Washington Post]

Pho Restaurant Coming To White Flint — The Pho Eatery will take the place of Chinese vegetarian restaurant Vegetable Garden, which closed in July 2012. Pho Eatery co-owner said it should be open in September in the shopping center at 11618 Rockville Pike. [Bethesda Magazine]

Whitman Student Helps U.S. Basketball Team Win Gold At Maccabiah Games — Josh Fried, a 6-foot-8 rising senior center on the Whitman basketball team, helped the U.S. team go undefeated and win gold at the 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel.
