Marriott Son, Executive Dies — Stephen Marriott, 54, the son of Marriott International Executive Chairman J.W. “Bill” Marriott Jr., died on Sunday from complications of a rare mitochondrial disease he was diagnosed with as a teenager. Stephen Marriott’s first job was as a cook at the Bethesda Roy Rogers. He eventually became general manager of the Bethesda Marriott in 1991 and was an executive vice president when he died. Mitchell Rales Talks Plans For More Open Glenstone museum — Bethesda billionaire Mitchell Rales and his wife Emily on Monday talked expansion plans for the impressive modern art collection on their Potomac estate, which after construction of a new 150,000-square-foot building will be more open to the public. Last year, the county agreed to install a controversial sewer line extension to the property. Opponents said Rales got special treatment because of his wealth and political connections. County Wants Volunteers For 100,000 Homes Campaign — Montgomery County is looking for 300 volunteers to help survey the chronically homeless who live on our streets. The 100,000 Homes campaign is meant to move 100,000 of the most medically vulnerable, long-term homeless people off the streets and into housing programs before it’s too late.
