Ride On bus crashes into home in Silver Spring

WASHINGTON – A Ride On bus crashed into a home Monday morning in Silver Spring.

Nine people are being evaluated for various injuries, five of them were taken to the hospital, a Montgomery County Fire spokesman says.

The passengers’ injuries are not life threatening, the spokesman adds. The crash between the bus and a taxi cab happened in the 9400 block of Avenel Drive near New Hampshire Avenue and Adelphi Road.

There were 10 to 15 people riding on bus when it crashed, the Montgomery County Police Department tweeted. There were also people in the home at the time, but they are not injured, police say in a tweet.

The bus went up onto the home’s front porch and into the front of the house, evident from a picture tweeted by Montgomery County Police.

There is no word yet on what caused the crash.

Police are on the scene investigating how the crash happened.
