Bishop stops 36 shots as Lightning beat Panthers

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Ben Bishop made 36 saves and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Florida Panthers 4-1 Saturday night in the teams’ preseason finale.

Aleksander Barkov opened the scoring on a power play 3:21 into the first period for Florida (0-4-2).

Tampa Bay (5-1-0) answered with goals by Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos and J.T. Brown later in the period, and Anton Stralman capped the scoring in the second.

Bishop got his third win in three preseason appearances.

Al Montoya made 24 stops for the Panthers.

Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said follow-up X-rays on Jonathan Drouin’s thumb showed the healing process from the rookie forward’s fractured thumb is continuing and he could be ready for the regular season opener next week or soon after.
