What you need to know for Opening Day

WASHINGTON – It’s Opening Day for the Nationals.

The Nats will play the Marlins.

“There will be over 45,000, standing-room only today. We have a chance at actually breaking our all time record, which we set in our final game against the Cardinals last year at 45,600 and change, so it is pretty exciting,” Nationals owner Mark Lerner tells WTOP.

Here are some of the things you’ll need to know, if you are going to the game:

  • Gates open at 10:30 a.m.
  • Batting practice starts at 10:30 a.m.
  • First pitch is at 1:05 p.m.
  • Forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds with a 20 percent chance of a sprinkle Monday afternoon. It will be windy and between 59 and 65.
  • Navy Yard is the closest Metro station.
  • Parking lots around the stadium will cost between $10 and $45. Map of parking lots.
  • This is the first year season ticket holders will have a swipe card to get into the stadium.
  • Stephen Strasburg pitches for the Nats.
  • The expected lineup includes Denard Span, Jayson Werth, Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman.
  • This will be the first season for racing president William Howard Taft.
  • Teddy, of course, will still be around as a racing president. Submit your photo of you and Teddy
  • No bags larger than 16 inches by 16 inches by 8 inches are allowed into Nationals Park.
  • Fans can take bottles of water into the park.
