Rangers bring up LHP Feierabend from Triple-A

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have purchased the contract of left-hander Ryan Feierabend from Triple-A Round Rock, and he could start the team’s final game before the All-Star break.

To make room on the roster, the Rangers optioned left-hander Aaron Poreda to Round Rock. Poreda had allowed runs in each of his last four appearances, and seven earned runs over 1 2-3 innings combined. He was 2-1 with a 5.91 ERA in 26 games.

Feierabend was 8-5 with a 4.54 ERA in 19 starts for Round Rock. He last pitched in the major leagues in 2008 for Seattle. He was 2-11 with a 7.22 ERA in 25 games for the Mariners from 2006-08.

When the Rangers play their series finale against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, Feierabend or right-hander Scott Baker could start.
