Man accused of killing woman to be extradited Del.

SNOW HILL, Md. (AP) — Maryland’s second-highest court has ordered that a man held in the state and charged with the rape and murder of a woman whose body was found in Maryland must be extradited to Delaware.

Thirty-year-old Matthew Burton is charged in the slaying of 35-year-old Nicole Bennett in June 2012. Bennett was found dead in Maryland’s Worcester County; she was last seen at her job at a church in Gumboro, Delaware. Burton, a custodian at the church, was arrested in July 2012 near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports (http://delonline.us/1ql36t7 ) that Burton was extradited to Maryland and indicted. But an investigation found evidence indicating the crimes were committed in Delaware.

On Oct. 8, Maryland’s Court of Special Appeals ruled that Burton must be returned to Delaware to stand trial.
