Arson suspected in $1M fire at Md. sporting goods store

WASHINGTON — Police in Charles County are investigating a fire that caused $1 million in damage to a well known gun range and shop.

Initial evidence suggests Fred’s Sports was burglarized and the fire was intentional. More than 35 firefighters responded around 4:30 in the morning and controlled the blaze within a half hour.

The business didn’t have a sprinkler system but there weren’t any injuries. Anyone with information is asked to call 443-550-6835 or contact the Arson Tip Line at 1-800-492-7529.
