Md. man charged with hitting woman with car

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — A western Maryland man has been arrested on charges of hitting a woman with his car.

Police say 37-year-old Michael Ford of Cumberland was arguing with a woman Saturday night when both of them got in their cars and began ramming the vehicles into each other.

Police say the woman got out of her car and walked toward Ford’s car when he pulled forward and opened the driver’s door. The door hit the woman and threw her to the ground. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say that Ford initially fled but returned to the scene and was arrested on charges of first- and second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and other traffic offenses.

The Cumberland Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/1od4ayz) that Ford was being held on $3,000 bail.
