SoulCycle to open this Winter in Bethesda

The much-hyped indoor cycling chain that’s entering the D.C. market says its Bethesda location will be up and running this winter.

SoulCycle opened a location in D.C. this summer and announced a Bethesda location would soon follow. It’ll take up part of the former RiRa Irish Pub space at 4931 Elm St.

There will be a 53-bike studio, locker rooms and the 45-minute workout that’s garnered a ton of celebrity endorsers and a ton of press, much of it focused on the gym’s “cult-like following.” A publicist for the studio said the group classes typically sell out “in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.”

Workouts are done by candlelight, “making riders feel like they are partying in a healthy nightclub.” The company is in the middle of a major expansion plan after Equinox  bought it in 2011.

This is how the SoulCycle website describes the experience:

At SoulCycle we believe that fitness can be joyful. We climb, we jog, we sprint, we dance, we set our intention, and we break through boundaries. The best part? We do it together, as a community. …

SoulCycle doesn’t just change bodies, it changes lives. With inspirational instructors, candlelight, epic spaces, and rocking music, riders can let loose, clear their heads and empower themselves with strength that lasts beyond the studio walls.

If the workouts aren’t enough for you, SoulCycle has both active and loungewear clothing available in its own boutiques and online.
