Parents reminded of school immunizations

BALTIMORE (AP) — Public health officials are reminding parents to make sure their children have the required immunizations before school starts.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said in a news release on Monday that all kindergartners must have had two chickenpox, or varicella, vaccinations.

Officials say all seventh-graders must receive a pertussis booster, or Tdap, and dose of meningitis vaccines.

Children may be excluded from school if they do not have these vaccinations, officials say.
