Judge to rule on suit over 2009 Md. music festival

BALTIMORE (AP) — A federal judge in Baltimore is deciding whether a lawsuit over a botched 2009 music festival in Frederick County will go to trial.

The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1kJsOoJ ) reports that on Friday the festival’s organizer and county officials each asked U.S. District Court Judge Catherine C. Blake to end the lawsuit by ruling in their favor.

The Summer Solstice Projekt festival was set to be held at in Myersville between June 18 and June 21, 2009. The festival started as planned, but the sheriff’s office received more than eight complaints about noise. Officials ultimately revoked the permit and sent musical acts and festival-goers packing. The county says the permit revocation was justified.

But an attorney for the festival’s organizer says officials didn’t meet the legal standard his client was entitled to.
