Md. man sentenced in gun theft

BALTIMORE (AP) — A Keymar man is starting a 10-year federal prison sentence for possessing stolen guns he took from a Frederick sporting-goods store.

Twenty-three-year-old Christopher Stevens Jr. was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. He pleaded guilty in January to possessing stolen firearms.

In his plea agreement, Stevens acknowledged that he and an accomplice broke into Glade Valley Sporting Goods in January 2013 and stole 12 handguns. Prosecutors say the pair gave 10 of the guns to someone they believed to be a member of a street gang in Frederick.

Prosecutors say one of those guns was subsequently used in a Frederick shooting. They say Stevens bartered at least one of the guns in exchange for tattoos.
