Woman sentenced for breaking daughter’s arms, legs

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — A 26-year-old woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for breaking her 8-month-old daughter’s arms and leg.

Stacey Renee Reese of Fairplay pleaded guilty to second-degree child abuse Wednesday in Washington County Circuit Court in Hagerstown.

Prosecutors say Reese took her daughter to a doctor in April 2013, who told her to take the infant to the hospital after examining the child’s injuries. Doctors at the hospital ordered the child transferred to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, where she was found to have fractures to both of her arms and legs.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports (http://bit.ly/1pkem9E) that Reese’s lawyer read a statement from her in court, saying she hurt the infant while exercising her.
