Police investigating sexual assault in Hyattsville

WASHINGTON — Hyattsville, Md. City Police officers are looking for a man who allegedly robbed and sexually assaulted a woman as she walked home from the Prince George’s Plaza Metro Station on Sunday.

Shortly after 2 a.m., police responded to the 3500 block of East West Highway. A man, described as dark-skinned with shoulder-length dreads wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans, approached the woman. According to a news release, he held a knife toward the woman and told her to go behind a dumpster.

That’s when he demanded her belongings and sexually assaulted her, police officers say. Hyattsville City Police officers are investigating the crime. Those with information should call 301-985-5060 and refer to case number 14-1146.
