Suspect stabs, kills clerk at Montgomery County convenience store

WASHINGTON – A man is in police custody after a fatal stabbing at a Montgomery County, Md. convenience store early Thursday morning.

A knife-wielding man approached a clerk at the 7-Eleven on Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg at about 2 a.m., police say. The man stabbed the clerk for no apparent reason, according to police.

The clerk, whose name has not yet been released, died after the stabbing. Authorities have not yet released details about the clerk’s injuries.

Police say robbery does not appear to be a motive in the stabbing.

Police responded to the scene after a second employee called 911. Montgomery County police took the suspect into custody.
