Woman killed by hit-and-run driver in Bowie

BOWIE, Md. – A woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Crain Highway early Sunday morning, according to Maryland State Police.

Police arrived at the scene, just south of Annapolis Road, after 12:30 a.m. to discover the body of woman in her late 20s in the right lane.

Several 911 callers said they had seen the woman walking in the roadway, and reported that they had seen her struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing a light-colored vehicle stop at the scene of the crash, and another witness reported a light-colored vehicle with a broken windshield with a damaged hood in a nearby parking lot.

Investigators have not been able to determine the woman’s identity, and are still investigating the collision.

The Maryland State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, seen suspicious activity near the scene of the crash or may have information regarding the driver or suspect vehicle to contact 1-800-492-TIPS (8477) or the College Park Barracks at (301) 345-3101.
