Virginia teen sentenced in parents’ slayings

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A Norfolk teenager convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of his parents has been sentenced to 25 years and 10 months in prison.

Seventeen-year-old Vincent T. Parker was sentenced Thursday in Norfolk Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty in May before he was scheduled to stand trial as an adult.

Parker’s parents, 55-year-old Wayne Parker and 57-year-old Carol Parker, were stabbed in the family’s home in December 2013.

Media outlets report an uncle lunged at Parker and yelled at him as Parker left the witness stand and walked back to his seat Thursday. A judge had the uncle removed. The sentencing resumed after a brief recess.

The judge ordered Parker to serve the first four years in a juvenile facility.
