Deadly domestic violence focus of Va. conference

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Deadly domestic violence is the focus of a conference in Williamsburg that will bring together law enforcement officials and advocates for victims of domestic abuse.

The conference begins Wednesday and runs through Friday. Virginia’s secretary of public safety and homeland security, Brian Moran, will deliver opening remarks. Attorney General Mark Herring is also scheduled to attend.

Organizers say approximately one in three homicides each year in Virginia are attributed to intimate partner violence.
