Ex-Colonial Heights official accused of embezzling

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (AP) — A former Colonial Heights building inspector faces charges of embezzling from the city.

A grand jury indicted 58-year-old Kevin Joyce last week on one felony embezzlement count.

City manager Thomas Mattis tells The Progress-Index (http://bit.ly/1xIrgGs ) that he gave Joyce the option to resign or be fired. He says Joyce chose to resign.

Mattis says the amount of money embezzled is still being determined. But it’s not significantly more than $1,000.
