BALTIMORE (AP) — Johns Hopkins University has been added to a list of schools under investigation for their handling of sexual assault complaints.
On Wednesday the U.S. Department of Education released an updated list of schools being investigated for possible violations of Title IX, a federal law barring gender discrimination on campus, adding Johns Hopkins University and the University of California-Los Angeles.
Seventy-six colleges and universities are currently under federal investigation.
The investigation into Johns Hopkins was spurred by a complaint submitted to the Education Department in February about an alleged gang rape at a fraternity house. The complaint also alleges that the school violated the Clery Act, a federal law requiring institutions to notify the student body of incidents on or near campus posing a threat to student and faculty safety.
