NEW MARKET, Va. (AP) — A community farm and addiction recovery program in New Market has closed.
Our Community Place launched the 15-acre Our Community Farm in 2010. The farm provided housing and employment for four individuals.
Our Community Place founder Ron Copeland tells The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/1k89gQc ) that the farm wasn’t financially viable, despite community support and the addiction recovery mission’s success.
The farm has been put up for sale. Copeland says the organization has found a prospective buyer. He declined to give details.
Our Community Place operates a community center and outreach groups to combat homelessness and poverty in Harrisonburg.
