Police investigate body found in burned car in Va.

FLUVANNA, Va. (AP) — Police are investigating a body that was found in a burned car in Fluvanna County.

Lt. David Wells with the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office tells media outlets that there’s nothing initially to indicate foul play. But he says the circumstances are odd.

Firefighters found the body in the driver’s seat of the car as they were extinguishing the fire. The car was parked at the rear of a home.

Wells says the car is owned by the homeowner. He declined to identify the person.

The fire occurred early Thursday morning. The cause hasn’t been determined.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to confirm the body’s identity.
