Southeast lodge employees held on assault charges

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Two employees of a tourist lodge in Southeast Alaska face assault charges after a weekend incident with a guest.

The Anchorage Daily News reports (http://is.gd/1q0cay) the two men, Michael York of Colorado and Devon Fernandez of Virginia, were being held Monday morning on $10,000 bail following a Sunday evening arraignment. Neither man had an attorney listed in online court records.

An Alaska Wildlife Trooper and a Yakutat police officers flew Sunday morning to Icy Bay Lodge about 65 miles west of Yakutat to investigate a possible assault involving a weapon. Troopers say in a web posting that the investigation indicates the two employees got into an altercation with a guest, and that York displayed a firearm in a threatening manner.

Troopers believe alcohol was a factor.
