NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Prosecutors representing a woman who was allegedly raped by four former Vanderbilt football players are asking a judge to charge their defense attorneys with criminal contempt of court.
Assistant District Attorney Jan Norman said during a court hearing on Monday that the defense attorneys violated the state’s rape shield law when they filed a motion of more than 100 pages that contained personal information about the rape victim, such as her name, photos, medical records and Twitter account.
She accused the defense of trying to intimidate the victim, even though defense attorneys say they didn’t do anything wrong and that the information was public record.
The hearing Monday was for former football player Brandon Vandenburg, who is one of the players accused of gang raping a student in a campus dorm in June. All have pleaded not guilty.
