Boy, 9, robbed of cellphone in Laurel

LAUREL, Md. (AP) — Police say a 9-year-old boy was robbed of a cellphone in Laurel.

Anne Arundel County police say the robbery occurred on Friday. The boy was walking near the intersection of Red Clay Road and Old Annapolis Road when a male believed to be in his late teens approached him and asked for the time.

Police say the boy took out his cellphone to check the time, and the assailant grabbed the phone.

The boy struggled with the assailant, but ultimately lost his grip on the phone and fell to the ground.

Police searched the area but weren’t able to find a suspect.
