British couple held pending fraud trial

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — A judge has ordered a British couple held while they await trial in Maryland on fraud charges.

Paul Dunham, who was president of Pace USA, and his wife Sandra Dunham, who was the director of sales and marketing, were ordered held Tuesday by a federal judge in Greenbelt. The Dunhams were extradited from England to the U.S. to face charges of conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering.

A federal indictment alleges that between 2002 and 2009, the Dunhams charged personal expenses to corporate credit cards, submitted vouchers for reimbursement and falsely described the purchases as business expenses.

Prosecutors allege the couple, who previously lived in Maryland, stole more than $1 million.

Gary Proctor, Paul Dunham’s lawyer, said Tuesday that he is disappointed with the ruling and will file an appeal.
