Police: Dayton, Md., homicide followed brief confrontation

WASHINGTON — Howard County Police say they are investigating a homicide and have a suspect in custody following the discovery of a body in an outbuilding in Dayton, MD., on Friday.

A press release from police said they were called to a property on the 4900 block of Ten Oaks Road around 3 p.m. on a report of shots being fired. An adult male was found deceased. He is not being identified pending notification of next of kin.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates the victim and suspect were known acquaintances and the shooting had likely occurred after a brief confrontation.

Police apprehended the suspect after a witness provided them with a vehicle description. Charges are still pending.
