THURMONT, Md. (AP) — The Frederick County Health Department is advising people with cuts or open wounds to avoid swimming in the lake at Cunningham Falls State Park near Thurmont.
Park officials announced the general water quality advisory Thursday, citing recent heavy rainfall and storm water runoff.
The advisory also applies to young children and people with compromised immune systems.
Officials say anyone who chooses to swim in Hunting Creek Lake should wash thoroughly afterward with anti-bacterial soap.
The park says it’s working with the health department to monitor the situation.
