WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Capitol police officers performed CPR and used a defibrillator to revive a man outside the Hart Senate Office Building.
Capitol police say the man suffered a heart attack around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Constitution Avenue entrance to the building. Police say the man was unconscious and unresponsive when an officer began performing CPR and used the defibrillator, which delivers an electric shock that can restore the heart’s rhythm. Police say the man was conscious and breathing by the time emergency medical crews arrived.
Police say the officer who performed CPR had been eager to earn his certification.
